A keen inventor, Professor Boey has researched on and founded several companies with his many patents to commercialize his cardiovascular, ocular and surgical implants. Professor Boey’s work exemplifies the integration of engineering principles with medical science, addressing clinical challenges through cutting-edge technology and commercialization. His achievements highlight a commitment to improving healthcare outcomes globally.
Professor Boey’s inventive spirit is evidenced by his 118 active patents, spanning advancements in novel drug delivery systems, biomedical devices and solar energy generation. Professor Boey’s work has not only pushed scientific boundaries but also translated into tangible social benefits and commericalized for real-world applications.
• Key Projects:
- Novel drug delivery systems, such as nanostructured treatments for glaucoma, which earned his team the 2014 President’s Technology Award in Singapore.
- Biodegradable stents and occlusive devices for cardiovascular and ophthalmic applications, addressing critical unmet medical needs.
- Materials for energy storage, including innovations in metal-air batteries and supercapacitors, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
