Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award

Professor C.C. Chan greeted the three winners of the 15th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), namely CHAN Ka Leung 陳家亮(CUHK), HU Jinlian 胡金蓮 (CityU HK), and SHUM Ho Cheung 岑浩璋 (HKU) after the presentation ceremony in Beijing on 25 June 2024.

Three nominees nominated by HKAES include HU Julian 胡金蓮 (CityU HK), SHUM Ho Cheung 岑浩璋 (HKU), and LEE Shi-wei 李世瑋 (HKUST).

HKAES was appointed by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 2021 to be the only organization responsible for the nomination of candidates from HKSAR for the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize. Two Hong Kong engineering scientists nominated by HKAES have recently received this prestigious prize at the Fourteenth Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize Winners Forum held on 30 November 2023 in Ningbo.

Ir Prof. Alfonso H W Ngan, Senior Vice President of HKAES, attended the prize presentation ceremony on 30 November 2023.

HKAES was appointed by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 2017 to be the only organization responsible for the nomination of candidates from HKSAR for the Guanghua Science and Technology Prize. Three Hong Kong engineering scientists nominated by HKAES have recently received this prestigious prize at the Twelfth Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize Presentation Ceremony held on 30 May 2018 in Beijing.

The prize recipients nominated by HKAES are (listed in alphabetical order of last name):

Prof. Joseph Lee (Past President) together with Prof. J.G. Teng (Hon. Secretary) attended the prize presentation ceremony in the afternoon and banquet in the evening on 30 May 2018. At the ceremony, Prof. Lee delivered a short speech to express HKAES’s appreciation to CAE and to congratulate the prize recipients.

HKAES was invited by the CAE to attend the Eleven Guanghua Science and Technology Award Presentation Ceremony which was held on 1^st June 2016 at the Beijing Convention Centre, Beijing. Professor C C Chan and Professor Patrick Yue, nominated by HKAES, were winners of the Guanghua Award (Engineering) and the Guanghua Award (Youth) respectively.

Dr Andrew Chan (President) together with Prof. J M Ko (Hon. Secretary) visited Beijing on 31^st May to 2^nd June and attended the presentation ceremony in the morning and banquet in the evening on 1^st June. The HKAES representatives were well-received by the host CAE and the visit was considered to be successful and worthwhile.
