It is my great honour to serve as the President of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE). I would like to share with you our key priorities and strategic directions of the Academy for the coming term.
The world is facing unprecedented challenges. Technologies will shape the future, and the technological future belongs to young generations.
Nurturing the younger generation will be one of our primary focuses. Our young generation will be the driving force behind emerging innovation and societal progress. We aim to inspire and support young professionals, as well as high school and university students in Hong Kong, by providing them with opportunities to explore the vast potential of engineering and new technologies. Through new mentorship programs, internships, and outreach initiatives, we hope to ignite their passion for engineering and equip them with the skills and knowledge to excel in the new digital era.
Fostering stronger collaboration and communication in technologies will be equally important. The rapid advancement of technology presents both challenges and opportunities, and it is imperative for us to stay at the forefront of these developments. To achieve this, we will actively seek partnerships and synergies with key stakeholders. Strengthening our ties with the Chinese Academy of Engineering will allow us to exchange expertise, share best practices, and work together on projects of mutual interest, ultimately contributing to the advancement of engineering in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and beyond.
As we move forward, I encourage all of you to join us in these endeavours. Together, we can make a meaningful impact by cultivating the next generation of engineering leaders and embracing innovation through collaboration.
Thank you for your continued support of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering. I look forward to working closely with all of you to achieve our shared vision.
Ir Dr Alex CHAN
