Thirteen Young Academics and Industrial Leaders Elected as Members of HKAE’s Young Member Section

 

Hong Kong, 1 August 2025 – The Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE) proudly unveils a cohort of exceptional talent within the Young Member Section (YMS) as part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing innovation and advancement in the engineering domain.


During the member meeting held on 9 July 2025, thirteen outstanding individuals were elected to join the ranks of the Young Member Section:


  1. Prof. AU, Man Ho Allen

Professor and Associate Head (Research and Development), Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

For his contribution in innovative cryptographic solutions advancing blockchain technology


  1. Dr CHIU, Yin To Ricky

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of PHASE Scientific International Limited

For pioneering PHASiFY™ biomarker extraction


  1. Prof. CHOI, Chung Hang Jonathan

Professor and Vice-Chairman (Undergraduate), Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

For his contribution in non-cationic therapeutic bionanomaterials for precise disease treatment


  1. Prof. KWOK, Ka Wai 

Professor, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

For his contribution in enhancing robot-assisted image-guided therapy


  1. Prof. LIU, Yuanwei

As a forward-thinking semiconductor industry leader and a trailblazer in the field of high-performance RISC-V processors

For his innovation in advanced optical bioimaging and AI analytics

For advancing energy-efficient and decarbonized buildings through developing state-of-the-art novel building envelope technologies

For pioneering research in low dimensional semiconductor materials and devices, and their engineering applications in microelectronics and chip manufacturing technology

For his contribution in speech recognition and natural language processing technologies


  1. Prof. YU, Xinge 

Professor in Biomedical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong

For his contribution in skin-integrated electronics and human machine interface

For innovation in inorganic thin films synthesis


The newly appointed Chairman of the YMS, Dr Russell CHAN, expresses confidence in the collective potential of these young talents to elevate YSM as a leading force in engineering, actively shaping Hong Kong’s future.  With these brilliant minds now part of YMS, a surge of dynamic ideas and impactful contributions is anticipated, propelling the field of engineering towards new realms of innovation and excellence.
