Twenty Young Academics and Industrial Leaders Elected as Members of HKAE’s Young Member Section

Hong Kong, 5 August 2026 – The Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE) proudly announces a cohort of exceptional talent within its Young Member Section (YMS), as part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing innovation and advancing engineering.

Twenty outstanding individuals have been elected by the Executive Team of the YMS to join the ranks of the new Young Member for 2026, as follows:

1. Ir CHEUNG, Tin King

Assistant Manager, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited

For his contributions to the power industry and his leadership as Chairman of the HKIE Young Members Committee

2. Prof. CHOI, Clarence Edward

Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Hong Kong

For his contribution to advancing revolutionary geotechnical engineering science through multi-scale physical modelling and the decoding of multi-physics mechanics

3. Prof. CHU, Zhiqin

Associate Professor and Associate Head (RPg Teaching and Learning), Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, The University of Hong Kong

For his pioneering work in scalable diamond membrane engineering and quantum diamond technologies 

4. Prof. DUAN, Huan-Feng

Professor, Associate Director of Otto Poon Research Institute for Climate-Resilient Infrastructure (RICRI) and Associate Director of State Key Laboratory of Climate Resilience for Coastal Cities (SKL-CRCC), Associate Head (Research), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

For his innovation in engineering science and technology, enhancing the resilience of urban water infrastructure and supporting climate sustainability

5. Prof. HAN, Bo 

Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University

For his contributions to developing trustworthy computational intelligence

6. Prof. HUANG, Zhiyi

8. Dr KWOK, Chi Ho Eric

Senior Manager, Electronics Sector, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute

For his innovation in advanced materials for thermal management technologies

9. Prof. LEI, Dangyuan 

Professor; Department of Materials Science and Engineering & Department of Physics, City University of Hong Kong

For his contributions to scalable passive daytime radiative cooling metamaterials and high-throughput plasmonic photothermal printing technologies

10. Prof. LIU, Liang

For his contributions to next-generation cellular technologies

11. Dr TANG, Hin Yan Cary

Lead Engineer (Mechanical), Integrated Sensing and Fusion Computation Division, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute

For his innovation in advanced engineering science by leading the development of award-winning sensing solutions for smart cities applications

12. Prof. WANG, Shiqi

For his pioneering work in achieving “Small, Smart and Sustainable” data representation in the AI era

13. Dr WENG, Qingsong

14. Prof. WONG, Man Hon Alex

15. Prof. XIE, Haoran

For his contributions to engineering advances in THM-coupled soil mechanics and geo-sustainability

Finally, Dr Russell CHAN and his team will continue their leadership on the YMS Executive Team for the term 2026~2027, continuing to serve and further grow this remarkable community, with ambitions to lead innovation and technology.
